Yet another show about a bunch of rich kids being rich and having problems. Gossip Girl centers on a mysterious, anonymous blogger (voiced by former Veronica Mars star, Kristen Bell) as she dishes the dirt to/about the students at an upper-crusty Manhattan Prep School.
It is from her mysterious blog that the A-list crowd at the school learns that former party-girl, Serena is back in town. Serena’s return to the city after having been away at boarding school causes quite a stir among her friends. As is always the case in high school, the gossip begins to fly, with the unknown female blogger at the heart of it all, keeping everyone updated through her blog and text messages.
It sounds like an East Coast version of The OC to me. I recognize that this type of super-dramatic soapy drivel appeals to plenty of people, but I’m not one of them. Good looking rich kids constantly on the verge of jumping off a building (or overdosing on antidepressants and/or party drugs) because their self-inflicted problems are just too much for them? Sorry, it’s just not my thing. But as sure as we can expect infidelity and betrayal in this new teen drama, there’s an audience for this type of show so it stands a pretty good chance at surviving through the fall.
I’ll probably check out the pilot, if only to see how much Kristen Bell’s vocal contributions add to the charm of the show

ok so for you two above me... get a clue will ya?? do you know how many american teenage girls are OBSESSED with gossip girl. so come on just cause guys and adults wont watch it dznt mean it wont be popular. so yeah think about everyone before you say things like that because alot of people are gonna watch it. i know i am and so are all of my friends... which is alot of ppl.
It looks like something the WB would burn off mid season and be done with. It sounded awful, but the previews are even worse. It's the kind of show to make me run screaming in the other direction. One Tree Hill meets The Bedford Diaries. That combo is enough to think TV was coming to an end. I hope this one sinks fast.
