Moonlight - Season 1 Premieres: Friday, September 28, at 9:00 p.m. EST Network: CBS Creator(s):Ron Koslow and Trevor Munson Starring: Alex O'Louglin, Sophia Myles, Shannyn Sossamon, and Jason Dohring Website: CBS.com
Moonlight, a new show on CBS, centers on Mick St. John (Alex O'Louglin), a private investigator, who is investigating vampire-style murders in Los Angeles. The twist? Mick is a vampire himself. Unlike other vampires, however, Mick has devoted his (un)life to helping those in need.
In addition to helping the living, Mick also crosses paths with Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), a woman who he saved years before. What will happen if the two fall in love and Beth finds out what Nick really is?
A show about a vampire who falls for a mortal woman and works as a private investigator in LA? Doesn’t that sound awfully familiar? It sounds like the exact premise of a little show called Angel. In fact, Angel co-creator David Greenwalt was once attached to this project for a brief period of time.
There is only one reason I would even consider giving up a Friday night out or an hour’s worth of TiVo memory: Jason Dohring. I became a fan of his last year when I started watching Veronica Mars, but did I become a big enough fan to watch this Angel rip-off? Hardly.
Bottom line: Joss Whedon did it first and, I’m willing to bet, better.

Moonlight is THE best show on the planet!!!! Moonlight will last forever and NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY CAN THREATEN THAT AND WOHOHO IF THEY DO! THEY ARE IN FOR SOME NATALIE-STYLE AIKIDO!!!
Mic is sooooooooooooooooooooo hot! Not since Bruce Willis on ironically Moonlighting, has there been such an absolutely georgeous example of the exciting dangerous male. Please let it stay on the air!
Details count. The writing and details are pretty darned awful. They should let all the writers stay on the picket line. Because they can have a good story line but they are making Mic look really dumb and clumsy. Example: Last nights episode - Mic needs to lug around a giant satellite (microphone) so that he can record the conversation and he jumps around like a clumsy clown, hiding in these very scarce trees pointing the giant microphone at his targets. And he bumps this homeless guy and the lady target can't see the giant mic. Next Corraline? is taking pictures left and right and they can't see her even though she's standing right in front of them. There are many many details that are terribly thought out and Mic is looking really dumb for a private detective and really clumsy for a vampire.
Moonlight is a great show, kinda like angel when it first came out, but better. angel was ruined when it got to fantasy. I like just enough to almost believe it's real. Sophia is beautiful, and Alex has a lot of sex appeal. Both are perfect for the roles. love the show
absolutely, love Moonlight. great show, awesome cast, great script writers and directors and ayone who contributed to ideas two thumbs up and I am a dedicated viewer, love the choice of music and direction. Keep your head up because you guys are my #1 show and I am always tuned in.
To be honest I loved "Angel", I even started to watch Bloodties but that couldn't hold my interest. I am soooo hoping that Moonlight gives me my weekly Vampire fix!!!!
Apologies. My sources were twisted. Rick (still sorry, darling) was the first "Knight". The same creator of the 1989 version with Rick tried again in 1992 in Canada with much better success this time in both Canada and the U.S. That said, Moonlight is still bad.
Well if Loretta hit the nail on the head, then I think darkangle is driving it in!
I too am looking forward to Moonlight bringing back some of that vampire-esque feeling to my weekly television viewing.
I'm gonna let it stand on it's own, tho...and decide for myself after the premiere...based on what I saw from the latest promo...it looks to be pretty good!
Loretta hit the nail on the head! Although, Angel's premise was very similar to Forever Knight's, that's where the similarities ended. Angel seemed to be nothing more than a vehicle that capitalized on the success of Buffy.
FK was a much better series. It did not cater to the obligatory WB/CW tweenie generation demographic, it was cast with theatre trained thesps,
and had adult themed episodes. It was witty, slick and far more entertaining than the "pretty kids with problems meet Dracula" content of Angel.
Buffy was a superior show but sometimes vampires, werewolves, demons, et al., need to be kept as dark, not lighthearted family fare.
I hope Moonlight takes us back to that.
Well if we want to talk about shows that sound a lot like previous shows then maybe we should go back further than Angel and take a look at Forever Night with Geraint Wyn Davies way back in 1992! This was a story about a vampire who reformed his ways and became a detective in Toronto and fell for a mortal woman along the way. So I'm not so sure you can say Joss Whedon did it first ...So don't get too much in a lather about Moonlight ripping off Angel. After all, as they say...immitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
