Scrubs - Season 7
Premieres: Thursday, October 25th at 9:30 p.m. EST
Creator(s): Bill Lawrence
Starring: Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison
Though Scrubs started as a show about green, new-to-the-hospital interns at fictional Sacred Heart Hospital, the doctors and nurses have been facing some serious grown-up issues in the last season. Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes) have been coping with being new parents, while Turkís best friend and the showís narrator J.D. (Zach Braff) has learned that his ex-girlfriend (Elizabeth Banks) is having his child, though J.D. thought she would have an abortion. In the meantime another one of J.D.ís ex-girlfriends, fellow Sacred Heart doctor Elliot (Sarah Chalke), is about to get married to her boyfriend Keith (Travis Schuldt), but neither J.D. or Elliot is sure theyíre not meant to be together. And, as always, Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley), Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) and the Janitor (Neil Flynn) continue to make life difficult for J.D., even as Dr. Cox copes with his own new fatherhood.
The upcoming season of Scrubs promises to be its last, and also one of the shortest-- only 18 episodes. Since last season ended with J.D. and Elliot on the verge of a kiss, we can be sure that Elliot will have some serious decisions to make regarding her engagement. And even though beloved nurse Laverne (Aloma Wright) died last season, sheís confirmed to return to the show as a new character who is similar to Laverne, but only J.D. notices.
I have a lot of love for Scrubs. It's the kind of show you can turn on whenever you want, at any point in the episode really, and still be able to jump right back into it. Itís like a soap opera in that way, except that itís intentionally funny and once had a musical episode, which earns it my lifelong appreciation. It has been on the show for 7 seasons, though, so I would imagine its time is in fact ready to be retired. Iím ready to see what happens with J.D. and Elliot, though, even though I expect them to wind up like Ross and Rachel and be in love 4eva. Yes, I did just say 4eva. Thatís the kind of happiness that Scrubs evokes in me.
