2008 Beijing Olympics: Opening Ceremony Will Re-Air

By Kelly West: 2008-08-12 00:44:05
2008 Beijing Olympics: Opening Ceremony Will Re-Air If you’re one of the many people who have expressed an interest in seeing the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony either because you missed it when it first aired or because you were so blown away by it that you want to watch it again, you’re in luck! Not only is the whole thing available on NBC’s Olympics website but it appears it will be airing on TV again.

A source at NBC Universal informed me that the ceremony will be rebroadcast at some point. We’ll post the date, time and channel once we get that information. In the meantime, the ceremony is available to view in its entirety on NBCOlympics.com.

Since it’s quite long, they’ve broken it up into parts: Part 1 - Pageantry, Part 2 – Parade of Nations, and Part 3 – Cauldron Lighting.

In case you haven’t seen the ceremony and are wondering if it’s really as amazing as people are saying it is. In my humble opinion, it is. The ceremony, particularly the "Pageantry" portion, which was put together by Chinese film director Zhang Yimou, was magical (for lack of a better, less corny word) and will surely be remembered for years to come.

Update as of August 25, 2008: We haven't heard any updates on when (or if) the Opening Ceremony will be rebroadcast on NBC or one of their affiliated channels. We're hoping to get an update soon. In the meantime, here's the information on the DVD release of the entire Opening Ceremony.

    The announcers talk too much.
Can you tune them out for the Re-Air?
Kinda driving ya nuts by the end of it.
    Thank you

  1. Josh Menez Says:

I was lucky enough to bypass the online censorship (perhaps a work of NBC) and watched it online before it was broadcast in the US. Watching the "NBC version" on prime time, I noticed that NBC cutted out some part of the show. Talk about censorship and dictatorship...
