Website: Fox.com Don’t Forget The Lyrics is a Fox game show hosted by Wayne Brady. In each episode, a contestant takes the stage and choose songs from different genres, decades and musical artists. As each song plays, the lyrics are projected across a screen. At some point the song stops and the contestant has to sing the correct lyrics that follows in order to win money and advance to the next round. If they get it right they can decide to keep playing or take the money and run. If they get nine songs right they go on to a Number 1 hit for the chance to win $1 million.
Don’t Forget The Lyrics is one of those once-in-a-while shows for me. From what I’ve seen of it in the past, this series definitely has a fair amount of entertainment value but it’s not exactly the kind of show that I look forward to every week. I do find it amusing to see the contestants trying to remember the words to the songs. More often than not, I’m stumped by some of the more difficult songs (especially songs from the 70’s and the early 80’s) and it’s pretty impressive what some people can remember. I’m also impressed that so many people with mediocre singing voices are willing to sing out proud on national television.
