The Baby Borrowers - Season 1 Premieres: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. EST Network: NBC Creator(s): Richard McKerrow, Anna Beattie Starring: Craig Zimmerman (Narrator) Website: NBC.com The Baby Borrowers is based on a popular British TV show and centers on a bunch of teenagers who are thrust into the crazy world of parenthood. Over the course of a couple of weeks they’re set up to play house and parent a baby, then toddlers, pre-teens, teenagers and finally, the elderly. They get set up in homes and in addition to their parenting duties, one of the teens has to get a job. Each of the five couples will first be put in charge of an 11-month-old baby. After three days they’ll fast-forward to caring for a toddler. Three days later they get a pre-teen and so on.
Well given all this business with the alleged baby pact in the news, this show probably couldn’t have come at a better time. I wonder how many parents are planning to make their teenagers watch this series so they can get a better idea of how tough it is to be a parent. I’m assuming that’s the target audience for the show (parents and teenagers). I’m neither a parent, nor a teenager but I am curious to see how this series goes. I think the entertainment value will hinge on how interesting these kids are and how they react to being “parents.”
