If you’re looking for a bit of girl-on-girl (or technically, woman-on-woman) drama, Showtime is definitely the place to get it. The L Word centers on a group of women who are either bisexual or full-on lesbians and the relationships they have with each other, their families and their other friends. It’s basically your typical drama series except a good chunk of the relationship and family aspect of the series involves same-sex couples.

Even if I did have Showtime (and I am toying with the idea of getting it, if only to watch Dexter), I can’t say that I’d be all that interested in watching The L Word. It’s not that I have anything against lesbians or bisexual women. In fact, the fact that there is such a focus on gay and bisexual women in The L Word is probably the only thing that really makes this show stand out among the other relationship-driven series out there these days. I guess I’ve just had my fill of relationship drama. With the exception of Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy, I don’t regularly watch many primetime-soaps anymore. If I’m way off on this series and you’re a fan of The L Word, feel free and post a comment telling me what I’m missing out on here.
