Let's hear it for Missy Franklin! Seventeen years old and an Olympic gold medal winner. That girl can certainly swim. And we'll see her again tonight, as there's more swimming on NBC's primetime line-up of Summer Olympic coverage. Also on the menu, Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps return to the pool for more events, and the women do some diving.
Teen swimmer Missy Franklin not only managed to win herself a gold medal for the 100m backstroke, but she did it just after swimming another race (and managing to advance to the final 8 for that one). Impressive stuff, all the more enhanced by NBC's packaged segment, which gave us a look into what the Colorado native's life is like when she isn't competing. You can check out the video for both races here. They're definitely worth a look.
Missy's races were among NBC's primetime coverage last night. As you'll see in the list below, there's plenty more swimming where that came from, including the 200m butterfly gold, which will have Michael Phelps swimming for what could be his third straight gold medal in the event. We'll see Phelps team up with Ryan Lochte on the U.S. squad for the 4x200m freestyle relay. And we'll see Missy Franklin and Allison Schmitt back in the pool for the Women's 200M Freeystyle In other words, if you like swimming, watch NBC tonight!...
