As if MTV doesn’t already have the market cornered on banal, idiotic programming, they are adding to their repertoire with an Apprentice-style show featuring none other than rap mogul 50 Cent.

Yahoo News reports, "The project, which does not yet have a title, is described as a hip-hop spin on The Apprentice and will follow 16 contestants who shack up together and compete in weekly challenges to see who's got the savviest business instincts. Fiddy picks 'em off one by one."

One thing that bothers me about MTV is their lack of programming that isn’t just based on performers, but actually includes the playing of music videos. Back when I was young, MTV actually played videos, and in the afternoons/evenings played shows such as the classic Remote Control, and later The Real World and Road Rules. I remember the days of classic personalities like Martha Quinn, Bill Bellamy and Kennedy. Oh, and I used to walk five miles uphill both ways to get to school.

MTV, bring back the videos! Don’t just play them after 3am. Get back to your roots!
