Liam Neeson Returning To Star Wars As Qui-Gon Jinn

There were a few great things about Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. By far the best, for me, was Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi Master training Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi held a lot of the promise of what we’d hoped the prequels would be. On January 28th Neeson is returning to the role in a three part storyline on Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

According to Entertainment Weekly Neeson will voice Qui-Gon as part of a series of visions Obi-Wan sees in regards to Anakin Skywalker. The actor told EW that he felt it important to return to the character, and Star Wars in general, because the “characters resonate.” Despite how loathed Phantom Menace is by many die-hard fans, Neeson feels a connection to the work he did. It's enough for me to finally be interested in anything Star Wars related (aside from the occasional original trilogy rewatch) after years of being let down.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs Friday nights at 8:30 pm ET on Cartoon Network. Neeson’s return as Qui-Gon begins Friday January 28th.
