Syfy has done a good job in the recent past of building up their original scripted programming slate, with more (hopefully) quality series coming soon. But not everything is meant to last forever, such as Dominion.
Post-apocalyptic society is becoming a recurring theme at Syfy. With Defiance set to return this Thursday night, it's particularly fitting that Dominion would be paired with it. Dystopian backdrop aside, Vaun Wilmott's new series veers far more toward supernatural than it does sci-fi, in its focus an impending celestial battle between good and evil, with mankind trapped in the middle.
The Summer TV season is upon us. With new shows like Extant, Rush and Tyrant -- among others -- joining the lineup, and returning series like True Blood, Doctor Who, Under the Dome, Defiance and Graceland lined up, TV has plenty to offer us this summer.
With the Legion follow-up series Dominion set to debut on Syfy this June, it looks like the cable channel is finally ready to give us a look at the epic supernatural drama. This comes in the form of a very teasy, 15-second teaser, which tells us that “This summer, heaven brings hell to earth.” Thanks for that, Heaven. Beyond the text, the words “You are the only one who can end this war.”
Those clinging to the hope that Syfy will shift its focus to nothing but science fiction programming are probably in for a disappointment, but looking at the situation more positively, Syfy does seem to be willing to take chances with their genre programming.
Between his role as Uther Pendragon on Merlin and his recent appearances in Warehouse 13 this summer, Syfy fans may be used to seeing Anthony Head on the cable network these days, and we could be seeing him there in the future, should things go well for Syfy's Dominion pilot. Anthony Stewart Head is one of a few cast additions to the pilot, which is based on the 2010 film Legion.
Is there room for a war involving angels, demons and humans over at Syfy? We may find out as Syfy has greenlit a pilot called Dominion, which is based on the characters featured in Scott Stewart's 2010 supernatural action film Legion. The movie starred Paul Bettany as a renegade angel named Michael, who comes to the rescue of a diner owner and his patrons when they're set to fight an army of angels and demons.
