Wow, the Dollhouse casting news just keeps getting better and better! I’m still excited over the news that Battlestar Galactica star Tahmoh Penikett was cast in the show (yeah, I know – old news). Now it looks like two more actors from some of my other favorite series have been added to the Dollhouse roster. I am speaking of course of Harry Lennix and Amy Acker.
Variety Reports that Lennix has signed on to play the role of the ex-cop who now serves as a body-guard for Echo on Dollhouse. Echo spends her working hours as a “Doll,” which means she has her mind wiped and programmed to play whatever role the paying customer wants. This can involve anything from romantic assignments to outlandish and in some cases illegal ones as well. (E!’s Kristin Dos Santos has the full skinny on the pilot if you’re interested in a few more details.) So naturally, a bodyguard will surely come in handy. 24 fans will remember Harry Lennix from his role in the sixth season as Walid Al-Rezani, a Muslim civil rights activist who worked with the president’s sister to try and get information from a bunch of Muslims being held in an internment camp. He ended up getting the crap beat out of him and the mission turned out to be fruitless anyway.
And now it looks as though Angel star Amy Acker has been cast in the role of Dr. Claire Sanders. Whedon himself posted this news on the popular fansite, Whedonesque.com. Acker played the role of Fred Burkle (and later, Illyria) on the Buffy spinoff, Angel. She also joined the cast of Alias in the series’ final season, playing resident baddie, Kelly Peyton.
Whedon also said that the role of November (who wont be in the pilot but will be a recurring character) will be played by Miracle Laurie.
