Adrienne Barbeau Joins Revenge As A Horrible Mother Figure In Season 2

ABC’s Revenge will be introducing Victoria’s mom in an upcoming episode of the soapy drama, and she will be played by none other than veteran actress Adrienne Barbeau. If you have the lifespan to remember all the way back to the seventies, you may remember Barbeau as Carol in the hit comedy Maude. More recently she’s shown up in Dexter, but playing a mother who spent years damaging her daughter sounds a whole lot more fun.

Revenge executive producer Mike Kelley recently dished to TV Line that the actress would be appearing in the important mother figure role. Kelley also noted the character’s appearance in the series should go a long way to explain why Victoria puts up so many walls and how she came to be so cold.

“We will learn how the monster that is Victoria Grayson was put together, and we’ll learn that there’s a lot of damage that went into this little girl that became Victoria Grayson — and that it was at the hands of her mother.”

As excited as I am for Barbeau’s appearance, this whole mommy angle is coming out of left field for me. I guess I always assumed Victoria became such a colossal bitch after dealing with years of pain and manipulation from Conrad Grayson’s end. I do think the storyline could potentially bring in a little much-needed empathy for Victoria’s character, but if Victoria has been this conniving since her youth, it makes me feel as if she and Conrad are actually perfect for one another. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see exactly how Victoria and her mommy interact on the show.

ABC’s Revenge airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
