American Horror Story: Coven Gets Four Spooky New Posters And A Slithery TV Spot
When the fall television season hits, and the promotional material starts coming out in droves, we generally get a bunch of episode clips and stills of characters staring into the camera sternly or comically. Only a few series out there manage to buck that trend, and FX’s American Horror Story consistently has some of the most interesting imagery out there, as you can see from the poster above, featuring Angela Bassett’s voodoo queen Marie Laveau just casually sitting in her chair with her eyes scratched out. And if that wasn’t menacing enough, how about that giant serpent burying its head between her legs? The caption released with the poster states “This fall, hell hath no fury.” This is truly a sinister Coven, and there are three more posters where that one came from.
Speaking of serpents, the poster below is something of an extension of the previously released poster and TV teaser (which you can see near the bottom). Some people get a frog in their throat. These ladies go for a different member of the animal kingdom.
And seeing as how voodoo will be entering into this season fairly prominently, these promos would be nothing without a human being utilized as a voodoo doll, like the one Bassett is holding in her poster. Granted, maybe the poster below is just of a pin cushion, but we have our doubts. The caption for this one reads “This fall, multiple piercings are back in style.” That AHS is just so fashionable.
The last poster is also pretty familiar, as it features a group of witchy feet hovering above the desks inside a classroom at Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans. The rhyming caption for this poster is “Our Detention Involves Suspension.” Clever.
A new motion poster was also released, coinciding with the new TV spot. Feel free to be a little grossed out by both of them.
Co-starring Jessica Langue, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga, Patti LuPone, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Danny Huston, Jamie Brewer, Alexandra Breckenridge and Denis O’Hare, American Horror Story: Coven will fly onto FX on Wednesday, October 9. Even though each season has nothing to do with the last one, feel free to check out the first season on Amazon Prime. If nothing else, you can check out Jessica Lange’s Emmy-winning performance.
