American Idol Results: Season 11 - Top 5 Elimination
Top Five! Where did the season go?! With just five contestants remaining, there was only a Bottom 2 tonight. At this point in the competition, eliminations have to come harder for the contestants, with the end nearly in sight and the big prize just waiting to be claimed. While the men have the majority among the finalists of The Voice, right now the girls hold it on Idol, but will they keep it? Or will things even out after one contestant is eliminated?
I think this may be the first time I've said this, but I actually liked the Ford commercial tonight. The song was decent, the costumes were great and the whole fairy-tale setting, including the great set, worked. Win for Ford! The music video was immediately followed by a performance by Coldplay. It doesn't seem that often that we see a band play Idol, so this was a nice switch from the usual solo-artist filler we get. Speaking of solo artists, Carrie Underwood returned to the stage tonight, which served as a vague reminder of where she got her start before she went on to become a mega-star.
Here's how the results broke down…
Hollie - Safe
Skylar - Eliminated
Well, the men managed make the Top 3, along with once almost-eliminated Jessica, who was also sent to the safety of the couches. That left Hollie and Skylar in the Bottom 2. If previous Bottom-3's are any indication, it's probably Hollie's night to go home, but anything can happen. Skylar was in the Bottom 3 last week, after all.
And, instead of results, because there's still more than ten minutes to fill, Coldplay returned to the stage to perform another song, while Hollie and Skylar sweat it out, waiting to learn their fate.
Finally, the results! Skylar goes home and once again, Hollie is safe! Wow, I really thought Skylar had a shot at the Final 3, if not the Final 2. It just goes to show, anything really can happen on this series. She had a good run though, and it seems probable that this won't be the last we hear from her.
