Amy Poehler In Talks With NBC For Office Spinoff

By Amanda MacArthur: 2008-07-17 09:50:00
Amy Poehler In Talks With NBC For Office Spinoff I've been watching SNL for years, and I have to say that the current cast is one of the best since the days of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. Seth Myers, Andy Samburg, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig – they are all great. But the star of the show, in my humble opinion, is Amy Poehler. She is so diverse, and doesn't mind dressing up like an 8-year old girl with ADHD who yells her stepdad's name all the time (it's Rick, in case you missed those hilarious skits). She's pretty and funny, and has made the jump to the big screen with ease.

It seems that I'm not the only one who has noticed her talent, because not only is she up for an Emmy for her role in SNL, but she's also currently in talks to be the star of a new TV show. And, if that weren't enough, the show is a spinoff of my favorite show on TV - The Office!

I am unclear how NBC would orchestrate such a spinoff, but they have their ways, don't they? According to Reuters UK, “NBC and Office creator Greg Daniels have been mum on details about the project. The only actor cast in it so far is comedian Aziz Ansari, but it's thought that the show might be built around a name actor, in much the same way as NBC's remake of the U.K. series is anchored by Steve Carell.”

I think they are going to have a winner. It won't matter what the premise is (as long as it's not just another Office with a female Michael Scott), with Daniels as the writer, and Poehler as the star, it's sure to be a hit.
