Apparently Game Of Thrones Is So Popular It Has An Effect On Porn Consumption

Game Of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on television. Even beyond the extreme viewership numbers, its supporters fill countless Reddit threads and Internet comment sections with theories, rumors and fan musings. For many people, it’s almost an obsession, which is why it should come as no shock that Game Of Thrones is so popular, its premiere date actually reduced online porn consumption by four percent.

Four percent might not sound like a huge decrease, but in terms of number of people, it most certainly is. The statistic was put together by Pornhub, which is one of the sixty most popular websites in the United States. That means we’re talking about millions and millions of visitors a day. So, a dip in porn consumption by four percent is actually pretty striking, especially when you consider how hilarious the traffic graph looks…

If you’re wondering whether there are some people out there who actually get excited about watching porn because of Game Of Thrones, the answer is a resounding yes. During the lead-up and immediately following the premiere, searches on Pornhub involving Game Of Thrones shot up an astronomical 370%. You read that correctly: 370%. Hilariously, however, most of these excited users seem to be searching for the same small group of characters.

It’s not hard to predict who the most popular character to search for is. Thousands of articles and millions of words have been spent talking about the nude scenes and then lack of nude scenes of show favorite Daenerys Targaryen. Of course she’s the leader in the porn clubhouse, but after that, fans may be a little surprised about who users gravitate toward.

You can check out the graph below…

The first episode of Season 6 of Game Of Thrones was pretty exciting for a lot of reasons. We got some big moments from Sansa And Theon. Cersei somehow became a more sympathetic character, and, of course, Melisandre dropped her bombshell. The latest will go down as one of the most memorable nude scenes in the history of Game Of Thrones because of the secret it revealed. Thanks to what it evolved into, however, I can’t imagine it will turn into one of the most searched scenes on Pornhub. Then again, people are into some unusual topics; so, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Of course, everything that happened in the first Game Of Thrones episode of Season 6 was just overshadowed by that Jon Snow BOMBSHELL. Because of spoilers, let's flip over to the next page to talk about what it means... Fans were convinced from the moment Jon Snow passed on that he would be back in some form. They zealously stalked his movements when Season 6 started filming, and the whole situation forced both Kit Harrington and the producers to release numerous statements claiming he really was dead. Lies.

On this week's episode, Sir Davos asked Melisandre to try and use her magic to bring our hero back from the dead. She tried and failed, or so the audience was led to believe. The final shot of the episode, however, showed Jon Snow opening his eyes and taking his first breaths since his unfortunate death. It was an exciting moment for fans, one that will once again place Jon Snow at the forefront of the show as it moves forward. Given how this went down and the words of warning from Melisandre, however, it is clear there will be consequences for everyone involved. And given all the horrors Game Of Thrones features on a regular basis, God only knows what the consequences for this witchcraft might be.
