As much as you may hope that Ronald Moore will just return to television and make more Battlestar Galactica until the end of time, the guy needs to move on, especially now that Syfy has cancelled his follow-up series Caprica. As reported by THR, Moore is making the move over to a major network, pitching a series to NBC that, sadly, doesn't involve cylons, or outer space at all for that matter.

It will involve a ship, though, and a crew of officers who learn to work together and survive challenges, so maybe it's not all that much unlike Battlestar after all. The show is called The McCulloch, named for the fictional Coast Guard cutter at the center of the series, focusing on the men and woman who travel around the world and, well, do whatever a real Coast Guard cutter might do. It's good to see that Moore is picking himself up quickly following Caprica's cancellation, and that TV executives still see what a valuable storyteller he is. Will The McCulloch last longer than Caprica? Given how strapped NBC is for shows anyone actually wants to watch, they'd be well-advised to hang on to it pretty much no matter what.
