Beau Bridges Joins Greg Garcia Comedy Pilot At CBS

Another well-known actor has joined the still-untitled Greg Garcia comedy pilot at CBS. This time the casting news is that movie and TV veteran and Golden Globe winner Beau Bridges has come on board, joining a cast that already includes Up All Night’s Will Arnett and A Gifted Man’s Margo Martindale.

The multi-camera project focuses on a recently divorced man, Jack (Arnett) whose life takes a turn for the (even more) complicated when his parents move in with him, bringing along issues of their own. TV Line says Beau Bridges has signed on to play Jack’s father Tom, husband to Carol (Martindale). Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will play Jack’s financially unstable sister Debbie, and JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) has also boarded the pilot playing Jack’s best friend Deweyne.

Beau Bridges' long career goes all the way back to the 1960s, and TV has been a big part of it. Both of his Best Actor Golden Globe wins were for TV mini-series or movie projects. Most recently Bridges guest-starred on Franklin & Bash, and he previously appeared on White Collar and Brothers & Sisters. He also had a recurring role on another Greg Garcia project, My Name is Earl. He’s also been tapped for another upcoming TV project, Showtime’s Masters of Sex.

The untitled project has Jim Burrows (Will & Grace) signed on to direct, and Garcia himself is writing the script for the pilot. With a strong cast coming together, all that’s really left to do is come up with a name for this one.
