Becki Newton To Star In Fox Comedy Pilot By How I Met Your Mother Creators

Becki Newton is one of the many Ugly Betty vets that deserves a starring role in a TV show. She almost had that with NBC’s delayed and unfortunately short-lived Love Bites and she may get another shot through a Fox comedy pilot in which she’s set to star.

According to Deadline, Fox has given a pilot order to the single-camera comedy Goodwin Games. By How I Met Your Mother’s Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the pilot follows three siblings who are reunited after their father dies. Newton will play one of the siblings. Deadline reports that the pilot was cast-contingent on Becki Newton playing one of the leads and now that Newton is officially on board, Fox greenlit the pilot.

Becki Newton is set to appear in this Monday’s episode of How I Met Your Mother (“The Drunk Train”). From what Deadline says it sounds like there’s a chance Newton’s guest spot on the CBS comedy series came from a meeting she had with Bays and Thomas about the Fox pilot.

As a fan of Newtons, hopefully we’ll hear good news about this one when it comes time for Fox to start making their selections.
