Big Brother Update: CBS Announces Voting Procedures For All-Star This season of ‘Big Brother’ will be an “All Stars” season. After 6 regular seasons of the American version of the ‘Big Brother’ show, Season 7 will return this July with 20 houseguests from previous seasons and then America will vote to determine which of the 20 will return to the Big Brother House.

The CBS ’Big Brother’ Season 7 website is officially up and running. The site will eventually include a list of the houseguests, a layout of the house and other show information including the Head of Household’s Revenge of the Blog entry. Right now it just has news about the upcoming season which includes this recent announcement:

:”For the first time in BIG BROTHER history worldwide, viewers will vote on which former HouseGuests will compete in BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS. On CBS Wednesday, June 21 at 8PM ET/PT, Julie Chen will unveil the top 20 candidates from seasons past. Web voting opens right here after the show at midnight ET/9PM PT. The polls close Wednesday, June 28 at 11:59PM ET/8:59PM PT.

The season premiere of BB7 is on Thursday, July 6 at 8PM ET/PT. All 20 houseguests will be present at the season premiere when Julie Chen announce which candidates have been voted into the house by America.

If you haven’t watched previous seasons of the ‘Big Brother’ series, here’s a rundown of how the show works. A group of people enter the Big Brother house. Normally they're all strangers unless there’s a twist that season. In this season, they wont be strangers because they’re all previous houseguests. There are cameras and microphones everywhere. The houseguests are cut off from the rest of the world. The can not talk to their loved ones, they do not have a TV or the internet. They are taped 24/7 and each week, someone is voted out of the house by the rest of the group. The object of the game is to be the last member in the house. The winner gets prize money.

There are three episodes of the show each week. Based on previous seasons, here’s how it works:

Thursday: This is the live episode. They show the tape of the Veto ceremony and viewers get to see if the winner of the Power of Veto used it and if so, which person has been put up for elimination in their place. After we get to see the PoV ceremony, Julie Chen talks to the houseguests and then she announces who has been eliminated from the house. That person gets a few minutes to say good bye and then they exit the BB house and have a brief interview with Julie. The Head of Household competition takes place after the eviction.

Saturday: A taped episode in which the Head of Household announces the two people he/she has chosen to nominate for eviction. The food competition also takes place. For the food competition, the houseguests compete together in what is usually a physical competition. The success or failure of the competition will determine what the houseguests get to eat. At best, they get a large supply of a wide variety of food. A failed competition could result in the houseguests (or some of them, at least) being forced to eat peanut butter and jelly for the entire week.

Tuesday: Another taped episode in which viewers get to see who was nominated for elimination. We also get to see the veto competition. The winner of the Power of Veto has the opportunity to remove one of the two people up for elimination. If they are up for elimination themselves, they can use the Veto to remove themselves. They may also choose not to use it.

The thing that sets ‘Big Brother’ apart from other reality shows is the Live Feed. Offered by Real Player, the live feed allows viewers to see what’s going on inside the house 24/7 for a reasonable subscription fee. With most reality shows, the producers take all the footage, cut and paste their version of the events and that’s what makes it into the episodes. The same applies to ‘Big Brother’ of course but because the live feed is available, fans know exactly what’s going on in the house regardless of how it is presented for TV. For those who don’t subscribe to the Live Feeds, daily recaps can be found on sites like Jokersupdates.com and the Surviver Sucks website on ezBoard.
