Well, people might be a bit bent out of shape over Sci Fi’s recent announcement that the network is changing its name to Syfy this summer but that didn’t stop 2.4 million people from tuning in to see the Battlestar Galactica finale. This gives the series its best ratings since the season 2.5 premiere back in January 2006.

Broadcastingcable.com posted the ratings info, stating that “The finale also drew 1.5 million P18-49 and 1.6 million P25-54, the best in each demo since the second episode of season 2.5.” These are just the early national ratings and don’t take into account the DVR numbers. Once the official ratings come in we could see a bump upwards of about 700,000 viewers if the same amount of people DVRed the finale as in the past. Not bad for a cable show.

Of the 2.4 million viewers, how many were satisfied with the conclusion of the series? The final episode ran for just over two-hours and delivered a grand final battle complete with all of the explosions, buzzing raiders, blasting centurions and battling Cylons. We also got a few answers about some of the major mysteries in the show and touching (and occasionally sad) conclusions to the characters’ story arcs.
