The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced today, and among the TV casts nominated were Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Modern Family, Glee, and The Big Bang Theory.

Most of what's included on this year's nominees for the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards seems fairly standard given the talent among the current popular TV comedies and dramas. While Sons of Anarchy often tends to get overlooked on nominee lists, the FX series was acknowledged for its performances by a Stunt Ensemble. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones were also nominated in that category. Unfortunately, despite their exceptionally talented casts, they didn't make the list for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Though cable shows did tend to trend in that category, while the Comedy Ensemble went to network TV shows, with the exception of Showtime's Nurse Jackie.

As for individual nominations, Jeff Daniels grabbed a nomination for The Newsroom, and both Homeland leads (Claire Danes and Damian Lewis) earned nominations in the individual drama categories. Meanwhile, Louis CK, Jim Parsons, Betty White, Tina Fey and Edie Falco were among those who were nominated for their work in comedies. And finally, there's a lot of notable talent among the TV movie/miniseries nominees, including Alfre Woodard, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Bill Paxton, Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner.

I would've liked to have seen a few more surprises, particularly among the comedy casts. Shows like Community, Happy Endings and New Girl have really great ensemble casts. Perhaps, if things work out for those shows, they'll be acknowledged in years to come, after some of the older series like The Office and 30 Rock wrap up.

The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. (ET)/5 p.m. (PT).
