Bridesmaids' Wendi McLendon-Covey Joins Goldie Hawn In HBO's Viagra Diaries Pilot
If each of the women in the Paul Feig comedy Bridesmaids could be summed up in a few words, Wendi McLendon-Covey’s character Rita could probably be simplified as “the frustrated mom.” The only mother of the bunch, she made us laugh with comments about cracking a blanket in half and wanting to cut the tags off her new tube-top.
It looks like McLendon (Rules of Engagement, Reno 911) will be reuniting with Feig, as he’s set to direct the HBO comedy pilot The Viagra Diaries, in which the Bridesmaids co-star will star, alongside Goldie Hawn. Deadline shared the news, stating that McLendon is set to play Hope, a female therapist and the daughter of Goldie Hawn’s character Claire.
The Viagra Diaries is being created/executive produced by Sex and the City’s Darren Star. The pilot centers on Hawn’s character as a woman who is trying to adjust to being single fir the first time in more than three decades.
Should The Viagra Diaries go to series, this will put all of the Bridesmaids bridesmaids (and the bride) on the small screen. Maya Rudolph stars in NBC’s Up All Night. Rose Byrne stars in Damages, Kristen Wiig can be seen on Saturday Night Live, Melissa McCarthy stars in CBS’ Mike & Molly, and Ellie Kemper plays Erin in The Office. On a related not, the equally hilarious Rebel Wilson, who played the British roommate Brynn in Bridesmaids is set to star in a pilot for CBS.
