Buffy's Little Sis Loves Gossip

And you thought Blair was evil. TVGuide.com is reporting that there’s a new bad girl about to sink her claws into the Upper East Side. Michelle Trachtenberg, whom Buffy fans remember as Ms. Summers' little sister on the vampire show, is joining the cast of Gossip Girl. Trachtenberg is playing Georgina Sparks, a girl from Serena’s past whose main goal in life seems to be stirring up trouble.

Trachtenberg’s casting as Georgina is a happy ending to what could have been a major catastrophe for not only Gossip Girl fans, but for TV in general. For some inexplicable reason, GG executive producer Josh Schwartz originally offered the part to Mischa Barton, the slender block of wood he cast and then killed off on The O.C.. Luckily, Barton turned the role down, paving the way for an actress with tonal inflection to play Georgina.

There’s no news on when exactly Trachtenberg will show up on Gossip Girl. The series is scheduled to come back for several post-strike episodes to wrap up the first season, so we may be seeing her as early as April or May. More than likely, producers will want to get her in as soon as possible, to capitalize on the casting buzz. XO XO…
