Camelot Blu-Ray/DVD Set Will Include Bloopers, Featurettes Aplenty

Well, Starz may have shoved the sword back into the stone and denied Camelot a second season, but fans at least have the upcoming September Blu-ray/DVD release to look forward to. We had previously told about the plans to release sets of both Camelot and the Spartacus prequel series, Gods of the Arena, and today Anchor Bay Entertainment has provided full details for the Camelot set.

Due to hit shelves September 13th, Camelot: The Complete First Season (aka, The Complete Series) will run you $59.99 for the Blu-ray and $49.98 for the DVD. The set will package in all 10 episodes of the solo season across three discs, and if you haven't upgraded to Blu-ray yet, no worries: you'll still be getting the full array of bonus features. Here's what you've got to look forward to:

  • Camelot Chronicles: Pop-Up History (Blu-Ray only)
  • Starz Studios: Camelot
  • Camelot Character Profiles
  • The Knights
  • The Women of Camelot
  • Candid Camelot
  • Scene Breakdowns
  • On the Set: Mooney's Movie
  • Camelot Blooper Reel

While Camelot never quite hit full stride, it showed potential, so it's a shame we won't get to see where they take season two. The cast was solid, especially Eva Green as Morgan and Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, although Jamie Campbell Bower's Arthur never won me over. I realize he was supposed to be young, but Bower just looks like one of those high-school freshman who spends an entire semester growing a meager mustache so they can claim to be eighteen. Still, the show's deconstruction of the Arthur myths produced several unexpected twists, including a rather brilliant take on the origins of Excalibur. And I can't help but mourn the loss of anything that kept Eva Green on my TV on a regular basis.

Seriously, though, they better not fuck up Torchwood.
