Caprica Trailer Is Chock Full Of Adama Drama

Caprica Trailer Is Chock Full Of Adama Drama In case you haven’t seen it, SciFi has finally given us a Caprica trailer to drool over in anticipation of this new series, which is a prequel to the hugely popular SciFi show, Battlestar Galactica. Reports are saying that the 2-hour TV movie, which is expected to get picked up for a series will premiere sometime next year but no date has been locked down as of yet.

The trailer below reveals some clues about the prequel, which tells the story of Adamas and Greystones, the two families who will play key roles in the creation of the Cylons. Scifi has the trailer up on their website and it’s also on YouTube:

Based on the trailer, it looks like Caprica will be more of an action/drama series with some sci-fi elements driving the story forward. I recall something BSG exec-producer David Eick said when news about the series broke in March. Regarding the direction of the show, Eick said, “While Caprica will have its own personality, it will carry on Battlestar’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of the genre, and we're thrilled that SCI FI has seen fit to giving us another opportunity to tell character-driven stories in challenging ways.” Compared to BSG, Caprica looks like it’s going to be a lot more character driven, which could be a turn-off for hardcore scifi fanatics. As for me, I say, bring on the Adama-drama!

One thing that caught my eye in the trailer was part of the text, which says: “The end of humanity has a beginning.”. If taken literally, could this be a clue to the series finale of Battlestar Galactica? Based on the miniseries and earlier episodes of Battlestar Galactica, the initial goal of the Cylons was to destroy humanity. They also intended to breed a new race of Cylon/human hybrids. Since then we’ve seen some of the Cylons ally with the humans in their quest to find earth but the story’s not over. There’s still half a season to go for the show to wrap up. So will the series end with humanity at its end? Or am I reading too much into that line?
