Among the more anticipated projects in the works is S.H.I.E.L.D, the ABC pilot Joss Whedon is writing along with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Some interesting details have emerged regarding the casting for the pilot, which give us some clues about the characters set to be featured.
S.H.I.E.L.D is a live-action pilot, which The Avengers' Joss Whedon is set to write (and possibly direct). It will focus on the organization featured in the recent Marvel movies, with S.H.I.E.L.D. standing for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury heads up the organization in the movies, but who will we see representing S.H.I.E.L.D. in the ABC pilot? TVLine shared the following details about a handful of roles set to be cast for the project. They don't give a whole lot away about the show, but they do give us a bit to chew on as far as casting goes. SKYE - This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm. It's probably doubtful that all (or even most) of the people cast in these roles would be people from Whedon's former projects, but just for fun, if we were to cast Whedonverse actors in the roles, I'd say Felicia Day and Fran Kranz for Jemma and Leo (alternates: Amy Acker and Tom Lenk), Summer Glau for Althea (alternate Bianca Lawson), Enver Gjokaj as Grant Ward, and Michelle Trachtenberg as Skye. We'll have to wait and see who is actually cast in these roles. Back to top
