Chelsea Handler's After Lately Gets A Third Season

Chelsea Handler has been pretty faithful to E!, beginning her television career with the non-notable The Chelsea Handler Show, a sketch series that ran for eight episodes in 2006. The network gave her another shot less than a year later that turned out to be a pretty good bet. Chelsea Lately has given E! decent ratings and allowed the network to compete in the late night talk show game. She’s done so well, E! even pursued the fictional After Lately, which has also done well. With all the love for Handler, it’s no wonder the network is looking to give After Lately another shot.

After wrapping up its second season in January, there was no news on the After Lately renewal forefront for a little while, which was a bit surprising considering how well the show has done in its timeslot. The season 2 finale, for instance, brought in 1.7 million viewers, which is a record breaker for the show that averages 1.1 million (still good for E!). With its increased ratings and a mockumentary style that is so different from E!’s other content, one would expect the show to stick around. According to THR, now, E! and Handler are close to finalizing a deal that will put After Lately on the air for a third season.

If you haven’t caught the improvisational show it follows the fictional lives of cast and crew involved in the making of Chelsea Lately. It’s not always a riot, but if you are a fan of Handler, it’s likely you will be into After Lately, too. TV Blend will keep you posted on the Season 3 premiere date.
