One of the reasons I was sad to see Pushing Daisies cancelled was because I really like Kristin Chenoweth. She’s just a little blonde ball of adorableness. So I’m very happy to report that she’s been signed on to co-star in a new legal drama called Legally Mad. What’s more, this isn’t just any random legal drama set to float around amongst all of the other legal dramas on TV.
Legally Mad is David E. Kelley’s latest project. If you’re wondering why that name sounds familiar, it’s because Kelley is the mastermind behind a number of series you may have heard of. Among them are Boston Legal, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and one of my personal favorites from back in the day, Picket Fences. Yes, Kelley is that guy. His series usually fall into the drama category but often have a layer of quirky comedy that never fails to charm fans. Kind of like the thin candy shell around an M&M... If the thin candy shell were characters with weird quirks, personality defects and relationship issues.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Emmy nominated Chenoweth is set to play Skippy Pylon, “a brilliant but not entirely well attorney who is relentlessly cheerful with flashes of psychosis and often is mistaken for a teenager.” The series itself will air on NBC and centers on a woman who takes a job at her father’s law firm.
Chenoweth sounds perfect for the role. Plus, with a name like Skippy Pylon, those of us who are going to miss our dear Olive Snook will probably warm to Chenoweth’s newest role.
