In case you missed The Colbert Report last night, Stephen Colbert himself took the stage alongside John Legend and sang the National Anthem. As The Colbert Report is a comedy series, you might think the host would’ve taken the low road and made a joke out of our nation’s song but then again, if you’re familiar with Colbert then you know he’s proud to be an American and would never do such a thing. Not only did he take the number mostly seriously, he actually sang it well and managed to hold his own in the duet with Legend. We’ve got the video of it for you in case you didn’t catch it.
Yesterday’s Colbert Report was broadcasting from Philadelphia, which explains the big stage. It starts off a bit goofy with Ben Franklin announcing the song but the singing part is actually pretty good. Here’s the video:
