We previously told you about the upcoming Showtime cancer dramedy The C Word, starring Laura Linney and written by Darlene Hunt. Now there’s another C word in the mix: writer-director Bill Condon, who Variety reports has been brought aboard to direct The C Word’s pilot episode.

Condon’s chops on the feature-film front are well established thanks to the likes of Dreamgirls, Kinsey (which co-starred Linney), and the underappreciated Gods and Monsters, but his forays into TV have been few. Aside from writing for and producing last February’s Academy Awards, Condon’s TV credits are limited to a few TV movies and directing an episode of the excellent, all-but-forgotten 2000 supernatural series The Others. It’ll be interesting to see him taking another crack at TV.

Condon has also been working on the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic, Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?
