Craig Ferguson And Paris Hilton Do CBS Comedy NightAuthor: Steve West

CBS uses Paris Hilton in the first salvo of the late night talk show wars about to commence between Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Fallon. Perhaps CBS feels that Fallon needs an upper hand in the beginning of this battle, because a Paris promotion is the last thing Ferguson fans would be interested in. In fact, this goes against what Ferguson has said in the past about only booking people on the show he wanted to talk to, and therefore fans wanted to listen to.
Hilton will be appearing throughout the primetime schedule to promote her appearance on the Late Late Show. I can’t imagine this will do anything but make the bulk of Ferguson’s audience check out the competition over on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I’ve come to enjoy Craig’s brand of humor and interview style, adding a lot more personality and charm to his show than even the best of late night’s talkers have done. The Late Late Show has come to be a place you can go and enjoy a laugh, or get some insight from a genuinely hilarious comedian who has a penchant for getting interviewees to disarm the PR schlock and talk about themselves. This whoring out of Paris Hilton by CBS just goes to show that maybe Ferguson doesn’t have the creative control we thought he did…or even worse that he supports the circus being paraded. This is all part of Ferguson’s two week gig hosting CBS’ Monday Night with Comedic Interstitials. Basically Paris will join Ferguson in his “house” to watch How I Met Your Mother, and make fun of Three and a Half Crappy Hour Of Television. At the end they’ll promote her appearance later on Late Late. The next week, March 9, Jim Parsons will join Craig as his character, Sheldon, from The Big Bang Theory. |
