Dick Clark Passes Away Of Heart Attack At 82 image
It is with sadness that we share the news that legendary TV personality and host Dick Clark has passed away of a heart attack at the age of 82. Clark had a long career in radio and television, earning many achievements including five Emmy Awards.

Clark’s known for hosting the dance show American Bandstand, as well as the game show Pyramid, and of course, the long-running New Year’s Eve special, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, which has aired on ABC since 1972. Following a stroke in 2004, Regis Philbin filled in for Clark in hosting the New Year’s Eve special that December. Clark returned to the job the following year, with Ryan Seacrest co-hosting at his side. Seacrest has since remained the co-host of the event.

Per Variety:
Returning to the annual gig was enormously important to Clark, who made it quite clear to a New York Times interviewer in March 2011 that he was not happy to be retired. "I would much rather be working," Clark said.

And work he did, returning to co-host each year, including last December’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. It’s difficult to imagine ringing in the new year without him, but I expect those of us who associate him best for helping count-down as the Times Square ball drops will think of him every New Year’s Eve. Rest in Peace, Dick Clark.
