Dominion Trailer And Stills Present A Bland Battle Between Angels And Humans

We at TV Blend have been impressed with Syfy lately for actually returning its focus to science fiction with a slew of recent series orders, but the above trailer for the upcoming fantasy thriller Dominion is nearly as disappointing as the series’ initial announcement was. A cinematic sequel of sorts to Scott Stewart’s 2010 thriller Legion, Dominion will possibly settle the dispute between good and evil once and for all, but the bigger battle will inevitably be between the bad CGI and the bad acting.

Set 25 years after the film and the Extermination War between angry angels and humanity, Dominion takes place on an Earth where large cities are now few and far between. Alex Lannen (Christopher Egan) is a rebellious soldier revealed to be humanity’s savior once it’s also revealed that the archangel Gabriel wasn’t content with getting his ass whipped in the movie, and that he aims to once again wage war on the unwinged beasts that roam this planet. Luckily, the warrior angel Michael (Tom Wisdom) is still on the side of the people, so there’s a chance mortals may hold out and win this thing. Be sure and wake me when someone is declared the victor.

The trailer begins with military vehicles being raided “outside the walls” of Vega, formerly Las Vegas, presumably by the same giant angel that takes down all those soldiers just by showing them his impressive wingspan. As Vega’s Senate president David Weel (Anthony Head) puts it, “It won’t be over until they’re extinct, or we are.” I don’t understand how a near-destroyed society is capable of defending itself against the same angels that brought hell on Earth to begin with, or why walls would stop them, but maybe Dominion will answer those questions with its pilot episode, directed by Stewart and written by Vaun Wilmott (Sons of Anarchy).

To accompany the trailer, Syfy also released a bunch of new Dominion stills (via TV Line) that are equally bad at inciting excitement. You can find a select few of the images below, which also feature co-stars Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones), Alan Dale (NCIS), Rosalind Halstead (Sherlock) and Betsy Wilke.

Not a lot going on there, but at least those costumes are interesting. And no, I’m not just referring to the one that allows Halstead’s cleavage to make a name for itself. At least I think I’m not.
