Elizabeth Banks Will Reprise Her Role On Modern Family

Way back in Season 1, funnywoman Elizabeth Banks popped up in Modern Family as Mitchell and Cameron’s gal pal, Sal. Now, the Hunger Games actress will be heading back to ABC to reprise her role in the network’s hit comedy series in Season 4.

When we first met Sal, she was a bit of a drunken trainwreck, who still seemed to be living an early twenties bar-hopping existence. To top that off, she was fairly rude to Mitchell and Cameron, calling then-baby Lily names and basically stating she thought kids were a drag. In a surprise twist, however, EW is reporting the actress will meet up with Mitchell and Cameron once more, this time to drop a bomb. As it turns out, Sal has plans in the works to get married. Methinks there is room in this plot for a guest appearance from another actor, but we’ll have to wait and see.

We’ll also have to wait a while to see whether an engagement ring will have tamed the lass a bit (probably not). The good news is, Banks is taping her episode next week. The bad news is that we are coming up to the lengthy and barren holiday break, where new TV is scarce and mostly relegated to Christmas specials. It's unlikely we'll catch the episode until 2013. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stand the wait, but at least I’ll have Charlie Brown and the stop-motion animated Rudolph to distract me in the meantime.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
