One of ABC’s new comedy series premiering during the 2009 Fall season is Modern Family. Set to air Wednesdays at 9:00pm ET.
Below is the series description as posted by ABC: Modern Family - Today’s American families come in all shapes and sizes. Shot from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, this comedy takes a modern look at the complications that come with being a family in 2009. PRODUCTION COMPANIES: Twentieth Century Fox Television EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Steven Levitan, Christopher Lloyd DIRECTOR: Jason Winer CAST: Ed O’Neil, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter ABC is trying with comedy, that’s what I’m getting from the network right now. They’ve been in a lull when it comes to half hour comedy, and it’s looking like renewing Scrubs isn’t the only gun in the arsenal. Also on board is the return of Ed O’Neil in this documentary style sitcom. I can’t get a good feel for how the show will translate from the clips, but if they’re going for an Office style mockumentary I’m not getting that. The contention is this is all being filmed by some guy following the modern American family in its varied incarnations, but the show still looks like a lot of setup shots on a soundstage with a few exterior locales thrown in.
