Finn Gets Some Competition On Glee
Fox announced some new Glee casting news today. Chord Overstreet has been cast to play a recurring role as a friend-possibly-rival to Finn when the series premieres its second season on Tuesday, Sept. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
You might say that Fox struck a chord here with this casting choice. Yay! Puns!!! Ok, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the details. According to the information Fox released, Chord Overstreet is set to guest star in a recurring role as Sam, “a high school athlete who starts off as Finn’s protégé but becomes his competition.”
It seems Fox is taking some liberties here with the term “star” as Overstreet’s current film and TV credits are minimal (IMDB). He played the role of Eric in iCarly, was “Teenage Boy” in The Hole and has the part of Lucas Fisher in ABC’s No Ordinary Family pilot. So if you were wondering why you didn’t recognize his (definitely memorable) name, it’s because he’s kind of new, but looking at his photo, I think there will be plenty of teens who will remember him when he appears on Glee.
