The Flash, iZombie And More CW Shows Make First Appearances In Colorful Promos

Post by Arrow.

The CW is going to get promo-crazy next week for the network upfronts, and they’ve already started rolling out teaser images for four of their new series, including The Flash, iZombie, The Messengers and Jane the Virgin. We’re obviously not going to get any major spoilers from these pictures, but they do at least give a sense of each series’ visuals.

Zipping right to the top of that list and the top of this story is, of course, the small screen return of DC Comic superhero The Flash. The reddened image, via the Arrow Facebook page, reminds me how nice it will be to have another action-heavy character who prefers a color other than black. A spin off of CW’s successful heroism-spouting drama Arrow, The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, the secret identity of the extraordinarily speedy Flash. He's also a police forensics investigator who hangs around Starling looking into a series of unexplained robberies that may have ties to his past. Also starring are Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton, Rick Gosnett and Michelle Harrison. Expect The Flash to hit CW before you know it this fall.

I’ve eaten takeout that looked disgusting before, but iZombie lead character Liv has apparently ordered hers special, with extra brains to go with her noodles. This otherworldly horror comedy from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is a loose adaptation of the DC/Vertigo Comics series of the same name, centering on an undead morgue worker who has the ability to intake a corpse’s memories when she eats its brain. With the help of her boss and a friendly cop, she tries to solve the crimes that keep the bodies piling up. You can dig on iZombie when it hits The CW later this year.

Next is the haunting sci-fi drama The Messengers, which revolves around a mysterious object that smashes into Earth, where its energy pulse kills a group of people nearby. But not for long, as those people soon wake up to discover that they’re responsible for stopping an apocalypse. I’m guessing the image above is one of the people killed by the blast, though it looks like there’s a particular marking on his back that I don’t quite get yet. (Maybe it’s just a random dirt splash.) The Messengers stars Sofia Black-D’Elia, Craig Frank, Diogo Morgado, Joel Courtney, Jon Fletcher and Shantel VanSanten, and will presumably crash into your TVs for the fall season.

Finally, we have the light-hearted drama Jane the Virgin, Jennie Snyder Urman’s adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela Juana La Virgen. The series stars Gina Rodriguez as the titular virgin Jane, a devout religious teenager who is artificially inseminated due to a series of unfortunate accidents at a hospital. She must then deal with the results of the impending pregnancy, with the help of everyone else in her life. Also starring Brett Dier, Yael Groblas, Diane Guerrero, Priscilla Barnes and Justin Baldoni, Jane the Virgin will air out all its drama when The CW airs it later this year.

Which of these four are you guys most excited about?
