It’s always great when two geekdoms collide, isn’t it? Like hearing that a couple of former Battlestar Galactica cast members will be making appearances on Dollhouse. Now it looks as though there’s another merging of BSG and the Whedonverse.
According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, James Marsters will be appearing in the Battlestar Galactica prequel for “a sizable arc.” In the series, Marsters will play “a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes.” Ausiello went on to say that his character is lethal and unpredictable. Marsters as someone lethal and unpredictable? Hard to picture, right? Any fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will remember Marsters from his role as the evil-turned-good vampire Spike, aka William the Bloody. I’m thinking this latest role will be a perfect fit for the actor. Caprica is exec-produced by Jane Espenson, who in addition to serving as a producer on BSG, also wrote and produced for the Buffy series, so who knows? This latest bit of casting news might not be the only Buffy/Caprica connection. Caprica will premiere on Syfy on January 22, 2010. |
