It appears there’s been a bit of controversy over a Lane Bryant lingerie ad that was supposed to air during this week’s episode of American Idol. Rest assured, the ad will air during next week’s results episode.

According to a post Lane Bryant ran in their Inside Curve blog, Fox required a number of edits before approving the ad.

ABC refused to show the commercial during “Dancing with the Stars” without restricting our airtime to the final moments of the show. Fox demanded excessive re-edits and rebuffed it three times before relenting to air it during the final 10 minutes of “American Idol,” but only after we threatened to pull the ad buy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a Fox source said the delay in the ad had to do with Lane Bryant’s refusal to comply with the re-edits they asked them to make to the ad, which is apparently fairly common. "Following Lane Bryant's refusal to make requested edits, Fox agreed to air the unedited ad during the last 10 minutes" of next Wednesday's "Idol" program at 9 p.m., a source said.

Lane Bryant deals predominantly in plus-sized clothing and according to the blog entry, claims the networks were objecting to a “different view of beauty” and went on to say that the network stated the girl in their ad (below) has “too much cleavage.” Is there any such thing? You be the judge. Below is the ad, which is set to air during the closing minutes of the April 28th results episode of American Idol.
