Fox Along For The Ride With Ryan’s Ridealong

After spending seven years telling the story of crooked cop Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis), you’d think Shield creator Shawn Ryan would be sick to death of police stories. Apparently he’s still got a few things to say about the men and women behind the badge, however, because Variety reports that Fox has ordered a pilot for Ryan’s new cop drama, Ridealong.

At least he’s opting for a change of scenery, abandoning the Los Angeles sprawl for the windy streets of Chicago. Ridealong will follow numerous police officers, including beat cops and the chief of police. The show will deal with everything from crime on the streets to corrupt politics. Ryan will write and exec produce, and he’s bound to bring some verisimilitude to the project, since he grew up not far from Chicago in Rockford, Illinois.
