Fox Asks: Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

By Dean Brooks: 2007-02-01 14:50:38
Fox Asks: Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? Over the years reality shows have asked us many deep, probing questions: ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’ and ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ are just a few. Now Fox has perhaps the granddaddy of them all: ‘Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?”

From the creator of ‘The Apprentice’ and the legendary ‘Survivor’ Mark Burnett, comes the new reality show guaranteed to provide a host of embarrassing moments that might even rival those hilariously bad auditions on ‘American Idol.’ The premise is cynical, albeit probably disturbingly true: Many adults (read: American adults) in these modern times are stupid, unlearned Homer Simpson types with fat free yogurt for brains. ‘Smarter’ will put such adults in a classroom and ask them questions from a grade-school textbook in a battle of the twits (I mean wits).

Now wait just a sec there Mr. Burnett, we didn’t blow up the Nazi’s Death Star in the Civil War and send Lance Armstrong to the moon in 1988 just to have you insult us. Aww snap! You just got pwned Burnett, shake and bake, LOL!

According to TV.com, ‘Smarter’ comes equipped with six episodes, and is set to premier after ‘Idol’ on Tuesday, February 27 at 9:30 PM ET. It will then run after ‘Idol’ the following Wednesday and Thursday. Following its debut of dummies, Fox will air the final two episodes before ‘Idol’ March 15 and 22 at 8 PM ET.
