Fox Takes A Pass On Obama's News ConferenceAuthor: Kelly West

For the first time since Barack Obama took office, a major broadcast network has turned down the president’s request for primetime coverage. It was reported today that Fox has said no thanks to Obama’s 100-day news conference on Wednesday night. And which show is it that's going to be aired instead? I thought American Idol too but it’s actually Lie to Me that would’ve been bumped for the pres. Instead, Fox has decided to air the drama series at 8:00 PM (ET) as scheduled.
The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating that while Fox won’t be airing Obama’s news conference, their affiliated networks, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network will be showing it. And if you’re not a Lie to Me fan, you can also catch the conference on ABC, CBS or NBC. THR goes on to say that it’s not a political thing, Fox just isn’t going to be competing for ratings with the other networks by airing the conference. Not when they have a dedicated news division that can handle the broadcast for them, allowing their devoted LTM to watch their show at its regularly scheduled time. |
