Frances Conroy To Star In NBC Pilot Beautiful People
In its first season, American Horror Story was a drama full of fantastic performances on the part of its actors. Whether that’s the case again when the series returns for its second season remains to be seen. In the meantime, Frances Conroy, who played Moira on the FX drama, has moved on to her next TV project.
Deadline shared the news today, stating that Conroy (American Horror Story, Six Feet Under) has signed on to star in Michael McDonald’s NBC pilot Beautiful People. The pilot is a drama with a sci-fi twist. Set in the near future in a world where human-like robots called “Mechanicals” exist, the story follows Lydia (Conroy), a wealthy woman whose late husband founded the company that makes Mechanicals.
Earlier this week we shared the news that James Murray and Patrick Heusinger have joined the cast. Murray is set to play Lydia’s son, who also happens to be an attorney who publicly suggests that Mechanicals might have civil rights. It’ll be interesting to see how Conroy handles this role, especially given the bizarre nature of her last character. She’s fantastic and this is definitely good news for this already promising-sounding pilot.
