With the TV upfronts approaching, we should be expecting an onslaught of announcements about the fate of current TV dramas and comedies. Fans of ‘Friday Night Lights’ have been on the edge of their seats, wondering if their show would be picked up for a second season or cancelled due to less than stellar ratings. As of Thursday, things are looking very good for the series.
Variety.com reported that NBC “firmed up” their plans to renew ‘Friday Night Lights’ for another season. Though the peacock is saving the official announcement for the upfronts next week, it looks like they’re pretty sure ‘Lights’ will be on their primetime roster in the fall. The not-quite-a-teen-drama drama series centering on a football town never scored huge ratings (about 6.1 million viewers), but it is considered by many to be one of the best shows on TV right now and certainly one of the best new shows of the season.
Meanwhile, NBC is also planning to air four new hour long TV shows titled ‘Chuck,’ Journeyman,’ ‘Life,’ and ‘The Bionic Woman.’
