Game Of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, Veep And Others Earn SAG Nominations

The nominations for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced today. As you may have surmised by the title, these awards celebrate excellence in acting as presented by the Screen Actors Guild (aka SAG). This year’s nominations put Behind the Candelabra stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon up against one another, and the same for Top of the Lake’s Holly Hunter and Elisabeth Moss. Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones are all nominated for numerous categories, and Netflix has cause to celebrate, as stars of both House of Cards and Arrested Development are among this year’s nominees.

Many of the more popular and critically praised series made it onto the list this year, The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, Modern Family and Homeland included. It’s also great to see Veep, American Horror Story and Scandal earning nominations. Arrested Development earned a nod to Jason Bateman for the Male Actor in a Comedy category, and one for the whole cast in the Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy category. And if there were a prize for the biggest cast nominated, Game of Thrones would win it, as their Ensemble nomination includes more than thirty names!
