Game Of Thrones Season 3 Teases The Great War Between Ice And Fire

It feels like several winters have come and gone since the last time Game of Thrones aired a new episode on HBO. And while the premiere still isn't coming anytime soon, the Season 3 poster set in stone the date the beloved series would return and marked the first piece of what is sure to be a lot of marketing to fuel fans' anticipation. Like that fire needs stoking. So without further adieu, here's the latest tease for Season 3 of Game of Thrones, which includes honest-to-God video:

Okay. So that was a lot of tease and not much trailer with it functioning pretty much like a voiced-over poster. But what a voice-over! Too bad I can't place the narrator. It doesn't sound like Carice Van Houten/Melisandre even though the line is definitely something she would say. It could be newcomer Selyse Baratheon (played by Tara Fitzgerald)? Or a Wildling Princess? I can't be sure until we see the accompanying footage. Hopefully soon.

But who cares what they show (or don't show). It's all about the slow build, and this Season 3 spot is similar to the "Terror Tease" that kicked the promotional campaign off last year. It shouldn't be long before we start seeing previews that probably show too much (despite how rad they are, like Season 2's "Seven Devils" or "Shadow"), so let's just be happy that the new season is close enough to start advertising. I can't wait to see "Storm of Swords" (the first half anyway) writ large on the small screen. Okay, If you were looking for some actual footage to tide you over, here's the five minute recap of Season 2.

The third season premieres on Sunday, March 31, 2013 (presumably at 9 p.m. ET) on HBO. Game of Thrones is based on the “Song of Ice and Fire” saga by George R.R. Martin and stars Peter Dinklage, Kit Harrington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
