Golden Globes Announce 2015 Airdate on NBC
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has put a lock on our next outing with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and that date is Sunday, January 11, 2015. Also known as the airdate of the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards on NBC. The HFPA and Dick Clark Productions confirmed that the Fey-and-Poehler hosted award show will air on the network live from the Beverly Hills Hilton at 5PM PST/8PM EST. Hooray!
The news comes fresh off a very successful (and very funny) year for the awards ceremony. In the hands of Fey and Poehler, the broadcast drew 20.9 million viewers, up 6% over the year before (which also saw a ratings high with critical praise and19.7 million viewers — up 17% from the year before) in order to officially rank as the most-watched Golden Globes since 2004.
What’s perhaps most exciting about the news is the realization that we only have to wait 339 days for the next appearance of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on the Golden Globes stage. The duo have become a knockout team on the hilarious hosts front, giving seeming perma-host of every awards show ever, Neil Patrick Harris, a run for his money. (I’d be shaking in me boots if I were you, NPH.) A quick look at the ladies 2013 monologue will prove that in spades:
And the ladies were no slouches in 2014, either.
The ladies’ opening monologue caused a bit of a kerfuffle between themselves and George Clooney (who you’ll remember shared his lap with Amy Poehler in a hilarious bit in 2013). In their monologue remarks, the ladies called Clooney’s nominated film Gravity “the story about how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.” What happened next was the beginning of a sure-to-be-epic prank war — now involving Matt Damon. Take a look at what happened below:
Needless to say, we’re highly anticipating their January 11, 2015 return to the Globes stage.
