Has CSI's Fox Investigated Her Last Crime Scene?

By Kona Gallagher: 2007-10-01 13:18:47
Has CSI's Fox Investigated Her Last Crime Scene? Good news for CSI fans who hate the whole Grissom/Sara relationship: Jorja Fox is reportedly leaving the show. Fox, whose character Sara Sidle just survived the Miniature Killer in last week’s season premiere, was unable to survive an even bigger threat—contract renegotiations.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Fox’s contract actually ended at the end of last season, fueling rumors that she wasn’t going to survive last season’s cliffhanger. When she did, fans thought she was in the clear, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

This, of course, isn’t Fox’s first contract dispute at CSI. In 2004, she and George Eads were famously fired and quickly rehired after failing to come to an agreement with the show’s producers. This incident is the reason Fox’s contract was up a year earlier than those of her castmates. Fox says, “There were some hard feelings that went around, and I didn't want to enlist for any extra time at that point. I was feeling a little hurt and angry by some of the events that happened a couple of years ago that relate to the firing of myself and George Eads. And so, at that point, I wasn't sure if I wanted to give anybody any extra time.”

While Fox refused to come out and say whether or not she is leaving the show, if the rumors are to be believed, she is only going to appear in the first seven episodes of the season. My completely uneducated guess is that Sara Sidle’s exit will have something to do with her relationship with Grissom. After all, it would be quite ignominious to survive a serial killer only to be hit by a bus on the way to the grocery store. Feel free to post your own, better, theories below.

CSI airs on CBS Thursdays at 9 pm.

If CBS knows what's good for CSI, they'll give Jorja Fox whatever she asks for. After all, she gave such an outstanding performance in Season 8's premiere, with more then 25 million viewers turning in. Grey's who? Keep Sara/Jorja on CSI!

  1. PiperGrissom Says:

I, for one, don't believe a word that the idiot from TV Guide "reports". The only two things I got out of the "interview" was that Jorja loves her job, the people she works with, and is excited about season 8. I also got that the "reporter" wanted us to read between the lines and make up junk just like he does. No one else has cited another source for this mess other than TVGuide, so until I see Sara leave and not return, I am not believing it.
That said, I am supporting the MANY campaingns that are going to keep Jorja. I love the Sara/Grissom story and hope to see it continue. I love the Sara character and was so thrilled how she made it through getting out of the desert. I will not watch CSI IF she leaves. I love the show, I really love Grissom, but the dynamic would just not be right.

  1. Aussieforgood Says:

CBS you're making a HUGE mistake by not renewing Jorja's contract, ratings will definately go down, don't make a huge mistake by letting Jorja leave. I think the premier proved how much Sara/Jorja is loved. Are 25 million viewers wrong?

    RENEW HER CONTRACT!

  1. Susan Says:

  1. Nerline Says:

Without Jorja Fox there is no Sara and without Sara on CSI I will not be watching. So if CBS wants to keep beating GA and all the other network shows on Thursday, they better give Jorja Fox anything she wants in order to keep her on the show.

  1. Jessie Says:

If Jorja Fox isn't on CSI, then it will not be on my TV. Jorja Fox deserves what ever she is asking and then some. How many viewers tuned in to see if her character lived or died? 25 million was it? And what show had the most viewers of the week? CSI perhaps?

  1. Susan Says:

If Jorja is leaving CSI then I won't be watching CSI in the future but I will be following Jorja's work in the future. If it is CBS's fault then I believe that CBS has shot themselves in the foot. If it is Jorja's decision then I support her 100% and ask her to just keep on smiling. As a viewer from the UK we are still in season 7 so I wait with held breath for November.

Good luck to Jorja in what ever she does.

  1. Maisy13 Says:

Jorja Fox brougt in 25million views for the season premier of CSI. I think CBS should think long and hard about letting her go.
Look, in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it Superman? No, it's a plane proclaiming that the fans of Jorja Fox will not go quietly into that good night! Watch the skies over Universal Studios today at 10am to find out what we have to say. You might also want to ask Les Moonves for a balloon. He certainly has plenty, and more are coming today! Carol Mendelsohn has some of those to share also! Don't burst our bubble, Keep Jorja Fox on CSI! Want some candy? Ask the CSI writers and producers. I hear that Naren Shankar has some chocolate covered critters to share. Have a hankering for a Lifesaver? Just ask Dustin Abrahams, or Alan MacDonald. They have plenty to share. It's not stopping anytime soon. Keep Jorja Fox on CSI! www.dollarsforsense.com .

  1. Brittany Says:

Jorja Fox is a terrific actress and her character of Sara Sidle is a rare beauty in television. She actually resembles a real person that people can relate to. To lose her would be tragic. If CSI loses her, they'll be losing viewers all over the world, too.

Fans are dedicated to the Dollars for Sense Campaign they have created to show how important Sara/Jorja is to the show. Any and all Sara/Jorja fans are urged to take part. There's many ways you can help.

  1. Sheena Says:

I have also been a part of protests against Jorja leaving. They are saying that her contract expires in Nov, but that she will sign a new one in Dec and reappear in Jan.
I am holding on to that.
I really want her to stay, I think her charecter has a lot of depth. Warrick had his gambling issue, which I liked, but he got over that. Sara has her family demons she is dealing with and that makes her so real...
