Good news for CSI fans who hate the whole Grissom/Sara relationship: Jorja Fox is reportedly leaving the show. Fox, whose character Sara Sidle just survived the Miniature Killer in last week’s season premiere, was unable to survive an even bigger threat—contract renegotiations.
TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Fox’s contract actually ended at the end of last season, fueling rumors that she wasn’t going to survive last season’s cliffhanger. When she did, fans thought she was in the clear, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.
This, of course, isn’t Fox’s first contract dispute at CSI. In 2004, she and George Eads were famously fired and quickly rehired after failing to come to an agreement with the show’s producers. This incident is the reason Fox’s contract was up a year earlier than those of her castmates. Fox says, “There were some hard feelings that went around, and I didn't want to enlist for any extra time at that point. I was feeling a little hurt and angry by some of the events that happened a couple of years ago that relate to the firing of myself and George Eads. And so, at that point, I wasn't sure if I wanted to give anybody any extra time.”
While Fox refused to come out and say whether or not she is leaving the show, if the rumors are to be believed, she is only going to appear in the first seven episodes of the season. My completely uneducated guess is that Sara Sidle’s exit will have something to do with her relationship with Grissom. After all, it would be quite ignominious to survive a serial killer only to be hit by a bus on the way to the grocery store. Feel free to post your own, better, theories below.
